It’s That Time: Andrew’s Senior Session

Being a high school senior means a lot of things. It’s a time to make life altering decisions, officially join the ranks of adulthood, as well as a time to celebrate who you’ve become up until that point. In few words, it’s a great accomplishment. We celebrate our seniors with caps and gowns, a firm handshake, graduation parties, and of course, senior photography sessions!

Now it’s been a few years since I graduated (sometimes I can’t believe how long!), but I still remember the nervous elation of reaching that milestone. It’s a strange feeling to realize you’ve finally reached the next step. At the time, senior photos didn’t feel all that important to me. I’ve always enjoyed being behind the camera, but not so much in front of it. Now, a decade later, I look back and understand the significance. Senior photos aren’t like your yearly school photos. They’re a documentation of who you are, and who you’ll soon become. My own senior photos still hang on familial walls, and while I might be embarrassed about my hairstyle choice at the time, they remind me of a point in my life when everything felt so big and possible. They’re hope in photo form, and that’s something to hold onto forever.

What lies behind us and what lies before us are small matters compared to what lies within us.
