Christmas Ready: The Barth Family

I’ve known Cati a long time! Back in high school, I worked at her family’s restaurant. It was my first real job and oh, did I learn a lot! For instance, I learned that I prefer my eggs poached, Country Bob’s is arguable the best steak sauce (although I really only eat it on fries), and if you clean as you go, it’s easier to tidy up at the end of the day. Above all, I learned to always be kind, even if you’re in a bad mood yourself. My parent’s raised me to be a kind human, but working at the restaurant taught me that some days people just need a friendly smile, a hot cup of coffee, and occasionally and ear to listen. Cati’s parents were so good to me, and I’m very glad to have had the waitressing experience. Without a doubt, the days I got to work with Cati were some of my favorite days and I’m so glad we had the opportunity to reconnect after all these years.

Winter photography sessions offer a unique charm that cannot be replicated in any other season. The soft, ethereal light, the serene snowy landscapes (or a little brown and windy in this case!), and the cozy layers of knit and flannel create a magical aesthetic. While braving the cold may seem daunting, the resulting images are often worth it. The rosy cheeks, the breath visible in the air, and the joy captured in the moments make for truly unforgettable photographs that evoke a sense of nostalgia and warmth. Embracing the winter chill during a photography session not only allows for stunning imagery but also creates lasting memories that reflect the beauty of the season.
